$6.79 per pound! Our Linotype alloy is a high-antimony blend formulated for maximum hardness and excellent mold fill-out. The 84-12-4 composition produces a very hard casting alloy ideal for specialized shooting applications and custom alloy blending.

Each ingot measures approximately 2.5" x 2.5" x 1" and weighs about 2 pounds (± 0.25 lb), giving you a manageable size for precise alloy control and efficient melting.

Originally developed for the printing industry to create sharply defined type before the era of computerized typesetting, Linotype is known for its ability to fully fill molds and produce crisp detail. With a Brinell Hardness Number (BHN) of approximately 22, this is one of the harder commonly available casting alloys.

Because of its hardness, Linotype may be too brittle for certain hunting or steel-target applications, where excessive hardness can lead to fragmentation on impact. However, it performs very well in higher-velocity rifle loads for target shooting and is frequently used as a base metal when blending custom alloys requiring elevated antimony content.

If you have access to pure lead, a 1:1 blend with Linotype will produce a traditional “Hardball” style alloy with increased strength and durability.

Cast with confidence. Shoot with consistency.
