Superhard Bullet Alloy – 70% Lead / 30% Antimony

Approximately 2 lb Per Ingot | 5-Ingot Minimum | Approximately 10 lb Minimum Order

Rock Shot Products Superhard Bullet Alloy is a high-antimony master alloy containing approximately 70% lead and 30% antimony. It is designed primarily as a hardening and alloying additive for customers who want to increase the antimony content of softer lead-based alloys.

Rather than using pure antimony, which can be difficult to incorporate directly into lead, this pre-alloyed material provides a convenient way to introduce antimony when producing custom lead alloys.

Each unit is one approximately 2-pound cast ingot. A minimum purchase of 5 ingots applies, resulting in an approximately 10-pound minimum order.

Why Use Superhard Alloy?

Antimony is commonly added to lead alloys to increase hardness. However, incorporating elemental antimony directly into molten lead can be more difficult than working with an existing lead-antimony master alloy.

Rock Shot Products Superhard provides approximately 30% antimony already alloyed with lead, allowing customers to add a calculated amount to softer lead or an existing alloy to reach a desired antimony percentage.

This makes it useful for:

  • Adjusting the antimony content of lead alloys
  • Increasing alloy hardness
  • Producing custom lead-antimony compositions
  • Blending casting alloys
  • Foundry and metalworking applications
  • Specialty lead-alloy production

Alloy Blending

Because Superhard contains approximately 30% antimony, relatively small quantities can significantly change the composition of a softer lead alloy.

The amount required depends on the starting material and the desired final antimony percentage. For consistent results, alloy additions should be calculated by weight.

The Rock Shot 2 lb Ingot Advantage

Superhard is supplied in approximately 2-pound cast ingots, providing a practical size for handling, storage, weighing, alloy blending, and remelting.

Instead of dealing with a single large, heavy ingot, Rock Shot Products uses a compact, flat ingot format that makes it easier to work with only the amount of alloy you need.

The smaller individual ingots provide several practical advantages:

  • Easier to pick up, handle, and weigh
  • Convenient to stack and store
  • Easier to portion when calculating alloy additions
  • Simple to add to common melting pots and vessels
  • Allows smaller quantities to be melted as needed
  • No need to handle or melt a single large 5-pound ingot when only a smaller amount is required

The flat profile also provides substantial exposed surface area relative to a larger, thicker ingot, making it a practical format for remelting and alloy blending.

Each unit = approximately one 2 lb ingot.
Minimum purchase = 5 ingots (approximately 10 lb total).

For example:

Quantity 5 = approximately 10 lb
Quantity 10 = approximately 20 lb
Quantity 25 = approximately 50 lb

Common Applications

  • Lead-alloy hardening
  • Custom lead-antimony alloy production
  • Bullet and projectile casting alloy preparation
  • Foundry applications
  • Specialty casting alloys
  • Metalworking and alloy development
